2.5 hours 1.7km loop
You need to access Herring Island by punt or boat!
From January to Easter Monday a free punt runs on the weekends and public holidays between 11am to 5pm (on demand). Head to Como Landing to board the punt.

Once on Herring Island just start exploring the trails. There’s no set route.

Fishing Wizards Get Ready
Make a fishing wand with what you can find lying around the trails. Long stick for your rod and a reed for your fishing line. Tie them together and find your perfect fishing spot. Sit quietly and see who floats by to say hello - a fish, turtle, swan?

Be a Birder for a Bit
Who’s hiding in the bushes, cackling from the trees, flying high above you or hopping just behind you? The ducks always keep the Captain of the Punt company - can you see them floating by?

The local Friends of Herring Island group have lots of free events and activities for families to get involved with. Walk and talks, tree planting, bird watching, weed pulling -see their website for more information.
